Výživa a krmení sportovních koní
JANOUŠEK HONESOVÁ, Simona
This bachelor thesis' elaboration literary part is focused on the horse digestive system anatomy and physiology, basic nutrients such as proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, water, vitamins and mineral substances. It analyse basic types of feedstuffs used in horse nutrition and feeding principles and technologies of sport horse feeding. The analysis is done on group of 5 sport horses focused on showjumping. Composition and energy value of feed ration, feeding technology and energy needed for training are evaluated at the end.

Gruberová, Hana Abigail
GRUBEROVA, H. A., Influence of yeast supplement on parameters digestibili-ty nutrients by sport horses. Diploma Thesis, Mendel university in Brno, 2018, 74 p. The aim of this diploma theses was the determination of digestibility of nutrients af-ter the addition of yeast (lyophilized Saccharomyces cerevisiae) into the horse feed. The objective was determining the digestibility of dry matter, crude protein, crude fat, crude fibre, N-free matter, raw ash, and energy of daily ration with or without supplement of yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae to diets for horses. Nine horses were involved into the experiment. According to the valid rules for bal-ance experiment for horses during three balance period. From laboratory analysis daily ration and feeces we are determination digestibility of nutrients, dry matter 71,25 ± 4,86 %, coefficient digestibility of crude protein 85,47 % ± 3,32 %, coefficient of digestibili-ty of crude fat 69,89 % ± 6,51 %, coefficient digestibility of crude fibre 33,32 % ± 9,71 %, coefficient digestibility of N-free matter 79,84 % ± 4,05 % and coefficient digestibi-lity of energy 74,58 % ± 3,81 %. The supplementation of yeasts into diets for horses does not influence on the intake and digestibility organic matter and the energy.

Bachelor thesis Basic aspects of nutrition of sport horses deals with the nutrition and feeding of racehorses. In the thesis, digestive system of a horse is described. The characteristic of basic nutrients and most common feed, used in the nutrition of sport horses, are described as well. Then, the rules of feeding horses are also described, as well as the feed used for racehorses in the time period of racing season, according to energetic needs of horse's organism. Mentioned are also diseases caused by incorrect nutrition, also the constantly increasing number of cases of horse-doping. The prerequisite for healthy grow, correct development and horse's performance is good nutrition.
Assess the current state of nutrition of horses in the specific stables and proposal optimal doses according to the their performance
Burcalová, Helena ; Mudřík, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Václav, Václav (referee)
This work deals with calculations of feed rations of selected thoroughbred horses at the High School of Horse Racing in Prague together with an assessment of economic aspects of horse feeding. The school is mainly focused on the education of jockeys, which means that the work with horses has to conform to the school requirements that need not meet the ideal feeding rhythm of the horses. United Kingdom norms were compared to the selected Czech norms. Focus was mainly on the racing season, which provides direct comparison of the feed rations with the horses results in the races. The racing season has the highest energetic requirements that need to take into account not only the requirements for the races themselves but also for the resting periods. Feed rations were measured and fed in precise time intervals. Main feeds were oats, hay, bran and Spillers feeds. During the assessment period a negative side - effect of high temperatures during consecutive heat - wave periods was observed. This aspect may prove important in the future and needs to be taken into account not only for feeding but for the entire horse training. Out of five examined horses, exceedance of digestible energy requirements was observed with two horses and underestimation with one horse. For two of them the anomaly was in norm. However, the horse with the highest exceedance was experiencing difficulties with feeding, always leaving a part of the ration intact. This made it necessary to adapt the rations to a higher figure than calculated. Economic aspect of horse feeding needs to be taken into account. The feeding expenses can be decreased by a suitable selection of a feeding mix, however the savings in this regard are not fundamental.
Evaluation nutrition of horse today at a time when the horse becomes the subject of a pets breeding
Nápravníková, Eva ; Mudřík, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Jiří, Jiří (referee)
The master's thesis describes evolution of horses, its domestication and coexistence with humans. The hypothesis is that 'The common used feed portions in hobby breeding programmes don't correspond to true need of nutrition established according to the horses actual sport performance'. The horse is a non-ruminant herbivore, whose digestion of fiber is based on its fermentation in the colon. Therefore there are certain limitations and requirements for the feeding technology and the composition of the feed for individual horses. The transfer of the matter through the digestive tract and absorption of nutrition in each part of the digestive tract. The next part of the thesis concentrates on metabolism during physical work, adaptability to training and physiology of training. There is a part focused on utilization of energy from feed, where the difference between an anaerobic and aerobic metabolism is described. To accept or decline the hypothesis, three horses with different equestrian use were chosen. The first was a Welsh Part Bred (WPB) pony mare competing in pony show jumping at L level. The second was a Czech warmblood (ČT) mare competing in both show jumping and dressage at L level. The last was a WPB pony mare used for hobby riding. For all three horses, the nutrition values of feed rations was calculated for the reporting period. These were compared with the true requirements of each horse according to their physical work. It was established that the selected horses were not fed according to their actual sports performance. Therefore the hypothesis was confirmed. The found data was transferred into a graph form for ease of evaluation. Where there was a higher fluctuation in the value of the feed portions, it was pointed out the danger to horses with long term feeding of unsuitable feed portions. The master's thesis shows to the owner of horses used in hobby breeding with the need to build the feed portions according to real physical work of their horses. The use of wrong feed portions and feed technology can cause health problems with long term effects.

POKORNÁ, Barbora
The main aim of this thesis is to create literary study and evaluate aspect of nutrition of horses. The thesis deals with physiology of digesting horses, import of nutrients, mineral supplements and vitamin in feeding batch. This thesis analyses using feeding and deals with need of energy and technology of nutrition of sports horses.
Výživa sportovních koní
Švancarová, Jana
The subject of this final thesis is Nutrition of the race horses. The first part deals with a digestive tract, nutrients and different kinds of feed. It also mentions a body condition score and importance of zinc for organism. Next part of the thesis focuses on the observation of zinc levels in hoof horn dry basis and horsehair with chosen horses. The experiment contained twelve horses of different ages all of them were Czech warmblood. The levels of zinc in hoof horn were statistically provable (P<0,05). The levels of zinc in horsehair dry basis, on the other hand, were not statistically provable (P>0,05).
Optimization of sport horses nutrition
MARYŠKA, Jan
This thesis deals with sport horse feeding. Suitable horse nutrition is essential for healthy and correct development of the whole horse organism. Every horse is different regarding its characteristics, work load, age, and health condition and therefore it is necessary to approach individually to its feeding. To set an optimal feeding batch so that it meets all requirements on energy, nutrients, and the right ratio of minerals and vitamins is not easy. The aim of this thesis is to analyse feeding practice in a stud farm focusing on feeding batches of sport horses. The work is divided into a theoretical part including basic descriptions of the horse digestive system, nutrients, and horse forage, and a practical part including the methodology used for the analysis, the description of the analysis when the forage used in the stud farm was compared with recommended optimal nutritious values for horses using appropriate software. The special attention is paid to the content of selenium in the feeding batches and its supplementation to horses with a deficit of this element. The thesis conclusion summarises findings of the conducted analysis together with a recommendation of optimal feeding of the horses in question.
